Who is Ghostwriter?
When a ghost suddenly begins haunting a neighborhood bookstore and releases fictional characters into the real world, four middle schoolers—Ruben, Chevon, Curtis and Donna—must team up to solve the mystery surrounding the ghost’s unfinished business. The friends give the specter a name—Ghostwriter—and are led on one exciting adventure after another, unlocking more of the mystery with every featured book.

Ghostwriter shows our four heroes solving their personal problems and uncovering Ghostwriter’s mysterious identity through literature. The multicultural cast and urban setting allow for a broad audience of children (ages 6-11) to see themselves in the characters, while the show’s curriculum encourages kids to view reading different types of literature as fun. Ghostwriter also aims to increase reading comprehension, vocabulary, reading fundamentals, and writing.
Awarded a 2020 Parents’ Choice Gold Award, Ghostwriter premiered on Apple TV+ in November 2019. The episodes are spread over narrative arcs that bring viewers on a magical adventure and invite them to solve the Ghostwriter mystery alongside the four adventurous friends.

The Ghostwriter world doesn’t end with the TV show – and neither do its characters' adventures. In Ghostwriter: Beyond the Page, author D. J. MacHale introduces fans to a new way of engaging with the series by diving deeper into their own literary journeys. Across four short episodes, viewers join Ghostwriter's Donna as she sets off to write an original story of her own. With a little help from some surprising guests, Donna discovers everything she needs to pen her tale. Along the way, she encourages the audience to start their own stories with the Ghostwriter Activity Guide.
